Lofty Dreams Ranch

We are currently located between Dorris and Macdoel in  California. 5 miles off Hwy 97, 45 minutes from both I-5 and Klamath Falls, Oregon.  For the last 10 years Lofty Dreams has slowly built up a nice sized breeding herd. Adding breeding stock from select farms with proven working bloodlines, excellent conformation , and trainability.  Which in turn has allowed us to produce a select number of foals each year with brains, beauty and versatility.  We offer a few outstanding colts for sale each year. On occassion we offer started or ready to ride horses as well!

I've always been one to take ANY animal in need and was frequently taking in horses from bad situations. I purchased my first horse, a grey Arabian gelding with my own money when I was 13.. he was hot headed and could go all day without tiring himself out.. me on the other hand Whoo.. I was told he'd "Grow out of it".. He's 27, he hasn't!

A few years later I purchased a TB filly who was bound for the slaughter house. I kept her for 6 years then sold her as a first time horse for an older rider who had a blast with her . I was given an abused arabian mare and a pregnant TB/Arabian mare. I retrained the arabian and broke the TB/Arabain. The Arabian I eventually found a retirement home for, she'd had a rough life! And the TB/Arabain I ended up giving to my mom as a bomb proof trail horse. I was up to 4 horses boarding them at two different locations.. driving back and forth every day.

At one of the boarding facilities, there was this old morgan gelding that some inept people had given away.. they were trying to force him in the trailer so some friends of mine could take him to his new home.. I ended up loading him for them and went along for the ride to see where he was going.. Sadly he wasn't going to a good place and ended up dying of colic not to long after.. However, these people had a small herd of CS horses.. they'd never been out of the inclosure they were born in, let alone haltered.. They were very skinny and had open wounds and no hair on there stomachs from standing in 2 ft of manure and having the bugs eat them ..

They called this one particular mare every name in the book and asked me if I wanted her. I ended up taking two ..
Her and a stunted yearling that was being flayed by the sire. I had to halter train them in the group.. while being charged by the rest of the herd. I had to gain there trust and was finally able to halter and lead them.
I tried for a couple days to get the colt loaded but he wasn't having any of it and I didn't want to force him. I didn't have a trailer of my own either so friends were nice enough to take the time to stand around all day while I worked them The mare bulked alittle but finally walked in, which shocked the people as she was no good.. then the colt stuck his nose in, nickered at his sister and jumped right in.

And home they came!

From then on I've been smitten with these rare horses! My main riding horse is the stunted colt I got that day, that later blossomed into my beautiful stallion L.D Joker. The mare, L.D Rainy turned into a fine trail horse and can be ridden by anyone.

I still posses the inability to say no to any animal in need, though I am frequently overwhelmed with the responsibilites I take on! Can someone clone me soon?! Heck .. I'll take two more of me!
